Post-Holiday Update

Hi, everyone, I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  Mine was good, but very busy (as expected)!  I spent most of the day Saturday hanging pictures.  This was a little job that I figured would take an hour, two at the most.  Wrong.  It took me ALL AFTERNOON!  In fact, other than a couple of loads of laundry, all I did Saturday was hang pictures.  While I was working on that, Mom was busily unpacking boxes from her move to the apartment.

We accumulated another load of items for Goodwill, so on Sunday we loaded those into the car and dropped them off on our way to visit my aunt and uncle in Kingsport.  We had lunch with them and had a very nice visit.

On Monday, I reorganized the storage closet out on the deck to make room for more stuff that Mom had unpacked.  It was really warm out there, and I needed a nap afterwards.  (That’s my story, and I’m stickin’ to it.  *LOL*)

I had taken a day of annual leave yesterday to stretch the weekend one more day, and we were busy all day long.  I took the car to have it serviced, then we dropped off yet ANOTHER load of things at Goodwill.  We went to the post office, then to WalMart.  We came back home to unload the WalMart purchases, then went to Kingsport for lunch at Lonestar (yum!).  Then we went to Dollar Tree and Michael’s.  I get in such trouble at Michael’s.  But I justify it by saying that I got good bargains (which I actually did).

We then went to visit friends in Kingsport for a bit, then made our way back home.  We’d had a really big lunch, so we just snacked for supper.

Being out and about so much this weekend had really wreaked havoc with my sinuses (allergies suck), so when I went to bed I took an OTC allergy medication.  It knocked me out like a light!  I didn’t wake up one single time last night until the clock went off this morning.  So, I’m feeling less congested today, but I’m awfully sleepy.  That’s one reason I’m writing a blog post on my lunch break today.  I’m afraid I’ll doze off if I don’t keep busy.  *LOL*

Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Mom’s Move – Update

So, the good news is that Mom is now completely moved into the apartment…..not completely unpacked, mind you, but moved in.  She’s made terrific progress in getting things organized, but there’s still some work to be done.

Tomorrow is my last day of work before a four-day weekend; Monday is Memorial Day, and I’m taking a day of annual leave on Tuesday.  Mom and I have some work to do in the apartment (unpacking, reorganizing, hanging pictures, etc.), but I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to take one day to just REST.  We’ve been so terribly busy for so long now that we’re looking forward to a little down time.

We put Mom’s house on the market last week; the realtor is planning to hold an open house on Sunday.  We’re hopeful that a buyer will come along quickly.  One less thing to worry about, y’know?

Keep your fingers crossed!

Honeysuckle in the Morning

As I got in the car this morning to drive to the office, I suddenly got a big whiff of honeysuckle. I turned to find that honeysuckle was growing thick and wild on the hill behind my parking space.

I love the aroma, but I always think of my sister’s allergy to honeysuckle whenever I smell it. I wish she could enjoy the sweet smell of honeysuckle in the morning!

And So It Begins……

For a long time now (since July 2003, in fact) I’ve been keeping a couple of different blogs at Blogger.com.  I kept one blog for my knitterly friends and a different blog for my not-so-knitterly friends.

Life has become very busy for me in the past few months, and I’ve decided that it would be best to combine my blogs.  I also wanted to give WordPress a whirl, thinking it might be quicker to post here and therefore I might be a little less pokey about posting.  🙂

So, here I am.  I’ve now imported all my posts from both “Dava’s Corner” and “Cricket Knits a Bit” on Blogger, so welcome to all of you who followed me to the new site.  To those of you who are new to my posts, they’re honestly not all that exciting.  I lead a low-key kinda life, but feel free to drop in to see what’s up in my little corner of the world.  It’s not a thrilling life, but it’s a good one.
